RHS CURRENT UIL ACADEMIC COMPETITON

Gloria,

I wanted to make sure you're aware of the successes of our alma mater in the UIL academic competition last week. This year was a bumper crop of medalists.

Check out this site:

Select Current Issues and hit GO. You'll see the team did very well - they fully expect to go back to state and possibly win. This is a fickle event but you never know...

Select Science and hit GO. RoHawk Adam Cribb picked up the individual overall gold, individual chemistry gold, individual physics gold (these results are at the bottom). They think the team can make it to state - the girl who won the biology gold is also from Randolph.

Select Social Studies and hit GO. This is the team's weakest event - they're just hoping for a good showing at regional.

Also, select Accounting and hit GO. As you can see, a completely different Randolph team made it to regional.

What's nice about this is the quantity of kids of Randolph that are bringing home medals and going on the regional! One of the parents remarked that "success breeds success". Two years ago, only a couple Randolph kids went to region, and Adam Cribb was the first to go to state in the last several years - but last year they took the entire current events team to state.

BTW, Adam also has earned eight varsity athletic letters at RHS. Four in cross-country and four in track.

I am so proud of these young people who are currently walking the halls we walked so long ago. Thought you might be proud of them also.

Jerry
