THE WOOD SHOP

A tribute to my father's years and years of wood working in this great shop. At the age of 88 he now has dementia. He goes out to the shop often and sits for hours not knowing what to do but knowing that he is comfortable and secure in this space. He will live forever in the hearts of those who love him.

PHIL MOSELEY '64 MUSIC

I created this page a year or so ago on Reverbnation.com -- a site where singer/songwriters can promote their music. I don't promote mine at all, but I use the site as a parking spot for a few songs that I have written (plus a couple of traditional ones like Wayfaring Stranger). I recorded them at home. The version of Wayfaring Stranger that I sang at my brother, John's funeral is at the top of the list. The others are still there, too, most written long ago and far away. When my father was dying a couple of years ago, I told him that I had recently started playing the guitar again after many years away from it. He looked up at me with his basset hound gaze and said, "I remember your songs. They were all sad." I had forgotten that I had given an old tape to my mother which she apparently listened to in her car while she worried about whether I'd ever get married!

ENJOY!

"Thank you Gloria for helping us stay connected. I'm now back in Texas after spending the past 7 years sailing the Caribbean. Here's a photo of my daughter Tracey, son in law James and my two glorious grandkids Allison and Drew. Taken in a small bay on Culebra in the Spanish Virgin Islands. Life is good."

Thanks Gloria

Judy Minor Villari, Class of '66

Hi Gloria!

Well, when I saw your email offering to post pictures of grandchildren on the RHS website, I decided I’d take you up on the offer!! This is our most recent addition, Ava Sophia Villari, born March 19, 2012. She is 7 weeks old here (this was taken on Mother’s Day). She is, of course, the sweetest baby girl EVER, and once again, I’m over the moon in love with this grandchild! The wonderful part is that we’re now living only a few miles from our son, Todd, so we get to spend lots of time with all 3 of our grandchildren. I’m in heaven!

I hope you’re doing well! I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch lately. Since our move to the suburbs of Birmingham from Savannah, I’ve been so busy trying to get settled in again and, of course, spending time with the kids. I’m so glad we made the move. Being near our grandchildren is the best!!

Love to you,

Judy

Granny Gloria, '65

Hi, it's me, Gloria, your Blogger and Classmate from the great class of '65!! Grandchildren are a blessing and just like when we had our children, we are so proud. In the past when I was writing the newsletters some of you sent me pictures of your kids that I have kept in photo albums. (I have a picture of Harry and Penny Amon's daughter, Bailey Jane, from birth to just a few years ago!) Every Christmas I got lots of cards and pictures. I miss getting them.

So when I posted one Grandpa picture I got a few more to post..... Together we have 5 children.  My kids with Chuck Pechuls '64 - Allison, Kyle and Mark; Danny's son with his ex-wife, Barbara - David; and our son Kelly.   So here are all my grandkids - they are spread out all over the country but there are all 10 of them!

Her name is Laura Danielle. She is named after her Aunt (our daughter) who passed away.
Oh, and we call her Lollie for a nickname. It was a name my wife was called by her Dad when he was alive. My wife is Laura Curtis '70 Randolph graduate. We got married in '71.

Your website is the greatest thank you for all your hard work and determination to keep it going.

Grandpa WARD BEIGHTOL, '65

Clockwise from top left: daughter Liz, son James, first grandchild Miles and daughter-in-law Jen.

I retired fron the AF in '98 and been loafing ever since. Playing tennis, golf, fishing etc, traveling to the Carolinas to see the "kids", and living on the water in St Petersburg, FL.. Went back to the Academy in '10 for my 40th reunion and, on the way, attended the funeral of my late brother Bill's ('66) wife Delores in Houston, so that's as close as I've come to getting back to SA.

The blog is great--brings back a flood of memories every time I log in--thanks for keeping it going. Enjoy your summer.

Regards,

Ward Beightol, Col USAF (Ret) ('65)

Jan Rimmer Muske, Class of '65

Newest member of the Moseley Family!!!

May I present Zane Moseley Allaf -- whom I finally was able to hold on Sunday. As some of you promised, it was even more special than I had expected. Norah is an old hand at this, having seen the baby more than I have -- but she is clearly enjoying being the newest Nana on the block.

MIKE CARTY - Class of '67

I am Mike Carty, class of '67. I have enjoyed following your blog for some time now and I have finally decided to join in. I am living in Carson City, Nevada, semi-retired from the casino industry, happy and healthy. I spend most of my time skiing, playing golf, riding my motorcycle and enjoying the beautiful Sierra Nevada. Here is a photo of me with my sweetie a couple of weeks ago at Heavenly Valley. Please keep the blog alive. I really enjoy it. All my best to my classmates and friends from the day. Hope you are all well and happy.
