All the Alumni are invited to attend this special Homecoming Football Game.  Who are we playing? Does it matter? No, it doesn't..... you just need to come to the school, get a ticket to the game, find a seat with the rest of us and wait for the half time.

Do you have to have graduated from RHS? No, Alumni is all Ro-Hawks - whether you went there one year or all 12. The only requirement is you were once a RoHawk - Once a RoHawk - Always a RoHawk !!!

Order your custom t-shirts from BIG FROG

What is new from the last t-shirts we ordered from PrepSports is that you can add a military designation on the sleeve.  Of course you can always get hats and accessories from PrepSports. Also, there will be a concession stand open the night of the game selling RoHawk shirts, etc.

The RoHawk R and Bolt is on the other sleeve

There is a new Foundation that has been formed - Randolph Field Education Fund. This Foundation will be to raise monies for the school to enhance the programs that are already receiving monies from the District.  It will also fund some new scholarships and three new awards.  These 3 awards will be presented at the Halftime of the game on Sept. 30th.  They will be presented to the school and the school will present them to three students at the end of the school year every year from now on.  These three awards were described in a prior post, Blog Post however they are:

SUPERINTENDENTS ACADEMIC AWARD
This award is based not only on excellent grades but by providing examples where the student helped other students improve academically and has demonstrated outstanding character traits.

Coaches Terry English and Bob Mickler

BOB MICKLER SENIOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
As the first Head football coach at Randolph High School, Bob Mickler established a program that transcends time and sidelines. After serving his country in WWII, Coach discovered his passion for inspiring young men while working at Boysville. Turning his career toward coaching while in his early 30’s, Bob became mentor, coach and father figure to many Ro-Hawks as their own fathers were serving tours of duty in Viet Nam and elsewhere.

Under Coach Mickler, the Ro-Hawks compiled a record of 217-50-10. The .781 winning percentage ranks Mickler as one of the winningest High School football coaches in Texas history. In his 26 years at Randolph, the football team won 13 District titles and reached the playoffs 17 times, including 10 undefeated regular seasons. An avid golfer, his Boys golf teams won 22 district titles in 26 years. Coach Mickler retired in 1987. Bob Mickler knew that not many of his players would continue in their sport past high school, so he was focused on molding them into men and leaders in life. When news spread of his early death in a car accident, the testimonies of his former players and peers were consistent. Bob Mickler turned boys into men and leaders. Above his love for the game of football was his tenacity toward life, as well as his pursuit of wisdom and use of humor. These qualities endure in all whom he touched.

TERRY ENGLISH LEADERSHIP AWARD
Terry was quarterback at Randolph in 1966 when he was selected as an All-State Texas High School Player.  Terry went on to play for Rice University before a long coaching career at the high school level, beginning at Randolph High School.

Terry was a strong supporter of sports in schools because he believed sports promoted more than just exercise. He believed sports kept some students in school who may have otherwise dropped out. He believed sports developed character, resilience, and life-long friendships. Terry was rarely seen without a football in his hands. He was always ready for a game. He threw his heart and soul into every play in which he was involved--whether it was in a sand lot "touch" football game or on Randolph's or Rice's fields. He also gave his all to the classes he taught and to the students he mentored along the way.  He loved Randolph...his sports and teaching experiences, and the many friends he made--including the mentor he found in Coach Bob Mickler. His family is sure that Terry is smiling his large impish grin tonight and that he is honored to have this award presented in his name in this very special way.

All Alumni will be recognized and asked to stand during the half time presentations.
