Here is a story of the settlement of a rural Shasta County community with a colorful history. Beyond facts and figures, it is a human story packed full of anecdotes, stories, and remembrances from voices of the past.

Melody Landon and Patrick Landon the authors, are sister and brother, in the fourth generation of what is now six generations in Olinda and Happy Valley. Their roots extend back to original settlers on both the maternal and paternal sides of the families
